Asian Snack: Koala March, コアラのマーチ

Country of Origin: Japan

Expectations: First off, these people are the masters of packaging and branding. Um, tiny little koalas, with cute expressions, in a unique hexagonal box? Jeez. I feel like I'm eating Hello Kitty.

Texture: Distinct little nuggets, kind of like goldfish crackers. Unlike goldfish crackers, Koala Marches are weighty, hinting at the sweet goodness inside.

Taste: Koala March come in a variety of flavors, though we only reviewed chocolate and "strawbeary." My general problem with these crackers is the filing -- my sweet tooth, while not strong, is not satisfied by the waxy consistency. It really comes down to whether you're a milk chocolate type of person or whether you're a fan of dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is just too waxy for me. Ditto with Koalas. Also, even if I was into the world of cute/novel/sweet snacks, I'd rather just stick to Pocky, which are at least fun to eat.
