Omija Cha (Five Flavor Tea)
오미자차
This tea gets its name because it contains the five flavors -- Oh (오) means five (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent). The berry is called Schisandra Chinensis and is used in herbal medicine. It is supposed to help with chronic coughing and also help kidney function.
Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp of Schisandra Chinensis (omija 오미자)
- 4 cups of water
- honey
- pine nuts (for garnish)
Recipe Steps:
- Wash the omija fruits carefully and drain. Towel dry. (If the omija fruit is dried, then reconstitute in water first)
- Boil 4 cups of water and put in the fruit. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 min. The longer you boil, the more sour it will taste. Add honey to taste and pine nuts for garnish.
