Saenggang cha (Korean Ginger Tea)
I make saenggang cha usually when I start feeling a cold coming on ... it seems to help with sore throats in particular. Ginger also is supposed to be good for stomachaches. Adding more honey to the tea will balance out the spiciness of the ginger in the tea.
- 1 med size ginger root (saenggang 생강)
- 6 cups of cold water
- honey to taste
- sprinkle of pine nuts
- Wash ginger thoroughly, brushing off as much skin using wire brush. Slice thinly.
- Add sliced ginger and 6 cups of water to a kettle. Boil for 30 minutes or longer.
- To drink, add some honey and a sprinkle of pine nuts. You can reboil the ginger if you want to stretch it a bit ... it will be weaker each time.
