I learned how to start cooking when I was 10. My first two recipes were sticky rice and long grain rice. Each night, my contribution to the family meal was either to make stick rice or jasmine rice in a pot.
Today, most Thai households have a rice cooker. In case you don't have a rice cooker, below are simple steps.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • Water to rinse rice
  • 2 cups rice
  • 4 cups water

Recipe Steps:

  • In a large glass bowl, rinse jasmine rice of excess starch. You will have to wash the rice with water several times. This is the white milky texture you see in the water. Set aside.
  • Pour water in a pot and bring to a boil. For every cup of rice use 2 cups of water.
  • When the water is brought to a boil, add the rice. Reduce the heat to low, cover and allow to simmer for 12-15 minutes.
  • Fluff rice and serve.

You say pour water in a pot, but is this just water or the water you rinse from the rice?
