Myulchi bokkeum is a simple Korean side dish (banchan 반찬) made of small dried anchovy. You can also use larger dried anchovy, but I prefer the smaller. You can usually find these in the dried aisles of Korean grocery stores. I call this "Canadian" myulchi bokkeum because it uses maple syrup instead of what I would normally use -- brown sugar and mulyeot (rice or corn syrup).
Recipe Ingredients:
1 cup of dried small anchovy
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of maple syrup
2 tsp of whole roasted sesame seed
Recipe Steps:
Heat a frying pan, and heat 1 tbsp of olive oil. Put anchovies in and stir well.
When anchovies become roasted -- a bit crispy -- cover anchovies with maple syrup. Sprinkle with sesame seed to garnish.
