Is sago the same thing as tapioca, or is there a difference? I'm trying to buy sago pearls for a dish and I can't find them, thought maybe I could use tapioca instead because I can find those easily.
i use them interchangeably...
the differences between sago and tapioca is based off of where it comes from. The sago is made from a palm trunk and the tapioca is made from cassava root (which is not a palm). taste wise there is no real difference between the two. it is a lot easier to find tapioca rather than sago at the stores
